Yarn 3 (for the mane): 50 g Sandnes Poppy (50 g = 110 m)

Yarn 4 (for the eye): 1 m of a fingering weight, or embroidery, yarn

About the pattern:

Always 4-ever Unicorn Sweater is an oversized kids sweater with a unicorn pattern. It’s worked top down in instarsia. First you cast on sts for the back, and shape the shoulders with increases along both sides. Then you work the back down to the armholes, before you pick up and knit sts along the front of the shoulders to work the front. The front shoulders are worked separately before you shape and cast on sts for the neckline.

You begin to work the unicorn in intarsia slightly below the neckline. The front is then joined with the back by casting on sts for the armholes. The body is joined to be worked in the round, but since the unicorn is worked in intarsia you use german short row turns to turn your work along one side to be able to work the body back and forth.

The body is finished with a ribbed edge. You pick up and knit sts for the neckline as well as the sleeves which are worked in the round. Lastly you decorate the unicorn silhouette with a 3D mane, as well as an embroidered eye.

Beskrivning:

Always 4-ever Unicorn Sweater är en oversized barntröja med enhörnings-mönster som stickas

uppifrån och ner i intarsia. Först görs bakstycket. Axlarna formas med ökningar längs båda sidor och arbetet stickas sedan ner till ärmhålen. Därefter plockas det upp maskor längs framsidan av axlarna för att sticka framstycket. Respektive axel stickas för sig, samtidigt som halsringningen formas.

Strax under halsringningen påbörjas intarsia-stickningen för att forma enhörningen. Framstycket sätts sedan samman med bakstycket, genom att det läggs upp maskor för ärmhål. Eftersom enhörningen stickas i intarsia används förkortade varv för att vända arbetet vid ena sidan så att bålen kan stickas fram och tillbaka, trots att det kommer att se ut som att den stickats runt.

Bålen avslutas med en ribbstickad kant, och därefter görs halsringning samt ärmar. Slutligen

dekoreras enhörningen med en man, samt ett broderat öga.
